Nancy Hart, the late mother of renowned comedian Kevin Hart, passed away in 2007. After listening to Kevin's audio book "I Can't Make This Up," I was inspired to create a painting of her wearing a brightly colored Ghanaian kente cloth. Hearing Kevin talk about his mother brought back memories of my own late grandmother, who was the glue that held our family together until her passing in March 2016. My friend once referred to the painting as the African Mona Lisa. This acrylic on canvas painting also features pen and glitters incorporated into the kente scarf. I had also created a portrait of my grandmother for her funeral ceremony in Ghana, but unfortunately it was lost on a plane and never arrived.
